This article clarifies why store owners may still see charges on their Shopify invoice after downgrading to a less expensive subscription plan or uninstalling the BeyondCart app. We’ll explain how Shopify handles billing cycles and credits when a subscription change occurs mid-cycle.
When you downgrade to a less expensive plan or uninstall the BeyondCart app, Shopify may still charge the full plan price for the current month on your next billing cycle. Here’s why:
The billing cycle for the BeyondCart app does not match Shopify’s billing cycle. Shopify handles all app billing on behalf of BeyondCart, so any changes in your subscription plan are processed through Shopify. When you downgrade or uninstall:
Shopify applies prorated credits based on the remaining days in the billing cycle. This credit will appear on your next invoice.
If you do not see the credit adjustment in the next 30 days, please reach out to us so we can assist you with contacting Shopify.
Billing via Shopify: BeyondCart does not directly bill merchants. All payments are managed and collected through Shopify, and Shopify passes payments on to BeyondCart.
No Payment Card Storage: BeyondCart does not collect or store any payment information for Shopify stores.
Prorated Credits: When you downgrade your plan, Shopify applies a prorated credit based on the difference in plan price and the remaining days in your current billing cycle. This credit is applied toward future app purchases on Shopify.
If you downgrade to a less expensive plan mid-billing cycle, Shopify automatically issues a prorated credit based on the remaining days at the higher rate. This credit can be used for any future app purchases on Shopify.
