If you wish to enroll in the Apple Developer Program as an organization, you’ll need a D-U-N-S® Number. Apple requires a D-U-N-S Number to verify the legitimacy of businesses and ensure that only verified entities can publish apps on the App Store.

What is a D-U-N-S® Number?

A D-U-N-S Number is a unique 9-digit identification number assigned to businesses by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B). This number establishes your business’s creditworthiness and credibility, which is essential for securing loans, partnerships, and contracts. Apple uses the D-U-N-S Number to verify business identity for enrollment in the Apple Developer Program.

Your business may already have a D-U-N-S Number if it’s a registered legal entity. You can use D&B's lookup tool to check if your business is listed.

Requirements to Get a D-U-N-S® Number

To request a D-U-N-S Number, you’ll need to provide the following information about your business:

  • Legal Name of the Business

  • Business and Mailing Address

  • Business Telephone Number

  • Name of the CEO or Owner

  • Year Established

  • Legal Structure (e.g., Corporation, LLC, Sole Proprietorship, Partnership)

  • Number of Employees

  • Annual Revenue

  • Industry Classification

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to the D-U-N-S Number request page on Dun & Bradstreet’s website. This page provides information about the D-U-N-S Number and the application process.

  2. Select the option that best describes your business structure, such as sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, or nonprofit organization. Make sure you select the option that aligns with the structure registered with Apple.

  3. Complete the form with accurate information, including your business name, address, phone number, and other required details. Be sure that all information is accurate as it will be used to verify your business identity.

  4. Dun & Bradstreet may request additional information or documentation to verify your business identity. They may also contact you directly to confirm the information you provided, so ensure your contact details are correct.

  5. Once your business information is verified, D&B will assign a unique D-U-N-S Number to your business. You can expect to receive your D-U-N-S Number via email within 30 business days.

If your business is classified as an individual or sole proprietorship, Apple requires that you update your business license to a legal entity status (e.g., Corporation or LLC) to qualify for enrollment as an organization. BeyondCart cannot assist with enrollment for "Individual/Sole Proprietor" status.

If you’re currently registered as an individual or sole proprietor and want to enroll in the Apple Developer Program as an organization, you will need to update your business license to a recognized legal entity. Contact the D&B team for assistance with updating your D-U-N-S Number status.

You can reach them at (855) 444-3091 or on the D&B website.

It typically takes up to 14 business days for D&B to update your legal status information and share it with Apple. After your D-U-N-S Number is updated, you can proceed with enrollment as an organization.

Next Steps

Once you have submitted your request, it may take up to 5 business days to receive your D-U-N-S Number.

After receiving your D-U-N-S Number, allow 1-2 business days for Apple to sync the information with D&B. You can then proceed with enrolling in the Apple Developer Program as a “Company/Organization”.
