The Categories block in the BeyondCart Mobile App Builder lets you display product categories directly within the app’s interface. This block is ideal for guiding users to different sections of your store, improving navigation, and promoting specific categories. Here’s how to set it up and customize it.
Settings
Boxed: Toggle this to add a border around the categories, making each category stand out more distinctly.
Disable Heading:Enabling this option will remove the block’s title heading, allowing for a cleaner look if a heading isn’t necessary.
Text Heading:Customize the text shown as the heading for the Categories block. Use this to give context to the displayed categories, like “Shop by Category” or “Explore Our Collections.”
Limit:This setting allows you to limit the number of categories shown. Enter a number here to display only the specified amount of categories, useful for focusing on top categories.
Exclude Categories:Here, you can input specific categories you wish to exclude from the block. This is useful if there are categories that you don’t want highlighted in this section.
Width and Height:Define the dimensions of each category thumbnail. Adjusting the width and height can help create a visually appealing layout that fits your app’s design.
Round Image:When toggled on, this option rounds the edges of each category image, giving them a circular look. This style is ideal for apps aiming for a more modern or soft visual appearance.
Disable Name:Enabling this will hide the category names beneath each thumbnail. This is useful if you want a more visual-focused presentation without text.
Layout Options
The Layout section for the Categories block offers two display styles:
Carousel: The Carousel layout displays categories in a horizontal scrollable format. Users can swipe through the categories, which is excellent for showcasing multiple categories without taking up too much vertical space.
Grid: The Grid layout arranges categories in a structured grid format, displaying all visible categories at once. This layout works well if you want all categories to be immediately visible to the user.
Tips for Best Use of the Categories Block
Choose the Right Layout: Use Carousel for a compact view that allows more items in a small space, and Grid if you prefer showing more categories simultaneously without scrolling.
Keep Images Consistent: Ensure each category image has similar dimensions and styling for a cohesive look.
Use Exclusion Wisely: For targeted promotions, exclude non-relevant categories to focus the user’s attention.
Adjust Image Shape: Round images can soften the design, while square images offer a more structured appearance. Choose based on your brand’s style.
