Overview

The Navigation Manager controls the bottom navigation bar in your BeyondCart mobile app—the persistent bar at the bottom of the screen that customers use to move between key sections. You can add up to five items, assign actions to each, customize icons and labels, and style the bar to match your brand.

The Interface

The Navigation Manager is built around a preview-centric design. The center of the screen shows a phone preview of your navigation bar, and you interact with it directly:

  • Click the bar background to open global styling settings (colors, typography, borders, padding).

  • Click an individual item to open that item's settings (label, action, icon).

There are no separate settings panels to hunt for—everything is accessible through the preview.

What You Can Configure

Navigation Items (Up to 5)

Each item in the bar has:

  • Label: The text shown below the icon.

  • Icon: A custom SVG or one from the built-in icon library.

  • Action: What happens when the customer taps the item.

Available Actions

  • Home — Opens the app home screen.

  • Collections — Opens the Collections Builder navigation.

  • Wishlist — Opens the customer's saved items.

  • Cart — Opens the shopping cart.

  • Profile — Opens the account/profile screen.

  • Page — Opens a specific landing page.

  • Deep Link — Navigates to any deep link URL within the app.

Global Styling

  • Typography (font family, size, weight)

  • Colors (background, active/inactive icon and text colors)

  • Borders and padding

  • Custom CSS for advanced styling

Key Concepts

  • Bottom navigation bar: The persistent bar at the bottom of every screen in the app.

  • Action: The destination or behavior triggered when a customer taps a navigation item.

  • Preview-centric UI: You interact with the preview directly rather than through separate forms.

  • 5-item maximum: Mobile UX best practice limits the bar to five items for clarity and tap targets.

Tips

  • Keep your navigation focused. Five items is the maximum, but three or four often work better.

  • Use Home, Collections, Cart, and Profile as your foundation—these cover the most common customer journeys.

  • Test your navigation on the preview before publishing to make sure labels aren't truncated.

FAQ

Why is there a 5-item limit? Mobile UX guidelines recommend no more than five bottom navigation items. More items create small tap targets and a cluttered experience.

Can I remove the bottom navigation bar entirely? No. The bottom bar is a core navigation element. You can customize it but not remove it.

Do changes affect all languages? Each language has its own navigation configuration. Changes in one language do not affect others.
