Module: Collections Builder Audience: Store admins Last updated: March 2026
Overview
The Collections Builder lets you create the product browsing experience inside your BeyondCart mobile app. You organize your Shopify collections into a visual hierarchy—categories, subcategories, and deeper levels—so customers can navigate your catalog the way you want them to.
Everything syncs with your Shopify store. Collection names, images, and product counts are pulled directly from Shopify, so your app always reflects your latest catalog.
How It Works
When you open the Collections Builder, you see a three-column interface:
Hierarchy tree (left): Your collection structure displayed as a collapsible tree. Add, nest, reorder, and delete collections here.
Phone preview (center): A live preview showing exactly how the collection navigation appears on a customer's device.
Inspector panel (right): Settings for the selected collection or the overall layout. Configure display options, sorting, and more.

Shopify Integration
Collections in the builder are linked to your Shopify collections. When you add a collection, you select it from your Shopify store. The builder automatically pulls:
Collection title
Collection image
Product count
If a collection is removed from Shopify, the Check for Inactive feature identifies it so you can clean up your hierarchy.
Unlimited Nesting
There is no limit to how deep your hierarchy can go. You might structure it like:
Women's
Clothing
Dresses
Summer Dresses
Tops
Accessories
Each level appears as a navigable screen in the app, giving customers a smooth drill-down experience.
Key Concepts
Root collection: A top-level item in your hierarchy, visible on the first screen customers see.
Child collection: A collection nested under a parent. Tapping the parent reveals its children.
Layout: How collections at a given level are visually displayed (Accordion, Grid, or Row).
Top menu: An optional horizontal navigation bar shown above the collection list.
Tips
Start with broad categories at the root level and get more specific as you nest deeper.
Use the phone preview constantly—it shows exactly what your customers will see.
Run Check for Inactive periodically to catch collections that were deleted in Shopify.
FAQ
Can I use the same Shopify collection in multiple places in the hierarchy? Yes. You can add the same collection under different parents to create multiple browsing paths.
Does editing the hierarchy affect my Shopify store? No. The Collections Builder only reads from Shopify. Changes you make here affect only the mobile app navigation.
How do I publish my changes? Changes are saved as drafts. Use your app's publish workflow to push updates live.
