BeyondCart offers a powerful way to re-engage customers who have abandoned their carts through automated push notifications. Follow this step-by-step guide to set up a rule for abandoned cart notifications.
Step-by-Step Guide
In the left sidebar in your Shopify admin, open the BeyondCart app
Under CRM, click on Abandoned cart. This will open the abandoned cart notification settings.
On the Abandoned cart page, select Add Rule to begin creating a new abandoned cart notification.
In the Add Rule form, you’ll set up when and how the notification is sent.
In the Send after field, enter the delay time (e.g., 4 hours).
Choose the time unit (e.g., hours, days) from the dropdown.
Specify the time frame for when notifications can be sent. Use the Delivery From and Delivery To fields to set a specific time window if needed.
Enter a catchy Title for the notification to capture the user's attention.
In the Message field, write a personalized message encouraging the customer to return and complete their purchase (e.g., "Don’t miss out! Your items are waiting in the cart.")
Target App URL: Ensure the URL links to the appropriate section within your app.
Target Web URL: Link to your website or checkout page.
You can upload an image by selecting Browse next to the Image URL field. This can help make the notification more visually appealing.
Define how long the notification should remain active. Enter the duration in hours in the Expire Time field.
Once you’re satisfied, click Save or Activate to start sending abandoned cart notifications based on the rule you've defined.
Monitor the Performance
Once the rule is active, BeyondCart will start tracking the effectiveness of the notification.
Go back to the Abandoned cart section, and under Actions, click on Statistics to view data like:
Global Sent: The total number of abandoned cart push notifications sent to users.
Global Clicked: This metric shows the engagement level and how well the message
resonated with the users.
Global Recovered: This is the conversion rate for the notification, showing the direct impact on sales recovery.
Orders Sum: This is the total revenue generated from the recovered abandoned carts, showing the financial impact of the notification campaign.
Best Practices for Abandoned Cart Push Notifications
1. Personalize the Message
Include the customer’s name if possible to make the notification feel more personal and tailored.
Mention specific items if your platform allows dynamic data in notifications, e.g., "Your [Product Name] is waiting!"
2. Create a Sense of Urgency
Encourage customers to act quickly by adding urgency to the message.
Use phrases like “Limited stock available!” or “Only a few items left!”
3. Offer an Incentive
Increase the likelihood of conversion by offering a small incentive, such as a discount, free shipping, or an exclusive deal for returning to complete their purchase.
4. Keep it Short and Engaging
Keep your title and message concise. Avoid overwhelming the customer with too much information; focus on what’s necessary to encourage them to take action.
5. Use Action-Oriented Language
Encourage customers to act immediately with words like “Complete your order,” “Claim your offer,” or “Shop now.” Strong calls to action can improve click-through rates.
6. Send Multiple Reminders (But Not Too Many)
Send one initial reminder within a few hours after cart abandonment, and follow up with a second notification 24 hours later if they haven’t converted.
Be mindful not to send too many notifications, as this can lead to app uninstalls or notification fatigue.
7. Optimize Timing
Test different timing intervals to see when customers are more likely to return. For example, try sending the first reminder 1-2 hours after abandonment and a follow-up 24 hours later.
Avoid sending notifications at inconvenient times (like late at night), which could lead to negative user experiences.
8. Use Visuals Wisely
If possible, include a relevant image of the items left in the cart, or a branded image that aligns with your store’s style. Visual elements can make notifications more appealing and memorable.
9. A/B Test Your Notifications
Experiment with different titles, messages, timing, and incentives. Analyze the performance of each variation to understand what resonates best with your audience and improves recovery rates.
10. Highlight Product Benefits
Remind customers why they added the item to their cart by mentioning a key product benefit. For example, "Your skin deserves the best – finish your purchase for glowing results!"
