Overview
The AI Segment Builder lets you create segments by describing your target audience in plain English. Instead of manually selecting rule types and configuring operators, you simply type what you want — and BeyondCart's AI translates your description into a fully configured segment with the correct rules, operators, and values.
Prerequisites
Access to the BeyondCart dashboard
The AI Segment Builder feature enabled on your plan
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1 — Open the AI Segment Builder
Navigate to Segments in the left menu.
Click "Create Segment".
At the top of the segment builder, click the "AI Builder" tab or the sparkle icon.

Step 2 — Describe Your Target Audience
Type a natural language description of the audience you want to reach. Be as specific as you like. Here are some examples:
"Customers who have placed more than 5 orders and spent over $500"
"Users who viewed running shoes in the last 30 days but haven't purchased them"
"People who haven't opened the app in 60 days and have at least one order"
"New customers who registered this month"
"VIP buyers with an average order value above $100"

Step 3 — Generate the Segment
Click the "Generate" button. The AI processes your description and creates segment rules automatically. This typically takes a few seconds.

Step 4 — Review the Generated Rules
The AI populates the rule builder with the appropriate rules, operators, values, and combinators. Review what was generated:
Verify each rule type makes sense for your intent.
Check that operators and values are correct.
Confirm the AND/OR combinators match your logic.
Step 5 — Adjust if Needed
If the AI interpretation is not exactly right, you can:
Edit any rule manually (change the operator, adjust the value).
Add or remove rules.
Change combinators from AND to OR or vice versa.
The generated rules are fully editable — the AI gives you a starting point, not a locked result.
Step 6 — Preview and Save
Click "Preview" to see the matching member count and browse the list.
Give the segment a clear name.
Select the target channel (Push, Email, or SMS).
Click "Save Segment".
Key Concepts
Natural language processing — The AI understands marketing intent and maps common phrases to the correct rule types. Saying "high spenders" translates to LTV rules; "inactive users" translates to Last Order Date or Has App Session rules.
Iterative refinement — You can run the AI builder multiple times with different descriptions. Each generation replaces the previous rules, so experiment freely before saving.
Full manual control — AI-generated rules are identical to manually created rules. You always have complete control to edit them after generation.
Tips and Best Practices
Be specific in your descriptions. "Customers who spent more than $200 in the last 90 days" produces better results than "good customers."
Include timeframes when relevant. The AI handles phrases like "in the last 30 days," "this year," or "since January."
Mention product names or categories for product-based targeting. For example, "users who viewed sneakers but didn't buy sneakers."
Always review generated rules. The AI is accurate for most descriptions, but complex or ambiguous requests may need a small manual adjustment.
Use AI Builder for inspiration. Even if you prefer manual rule building, generating a segment from a description can show you rule combinations you might not have considered.
FAQ
Q: Does the AI Builder support languages other than English? A: Currently, the AI Segment Builder works best with English descriptions. Support for additional languages may be added in the future.
Q: Is there a limit to how many times I can use the AI Builder? A: There is no per-use limit. You can generate as many segments as you need.
Q: What if the AI generates rules that don't match my intent? A: Simply edit the rules manually or rewrite your description with more detail and generate again. The AI improves with more specific input.
Q: Can the AI create nested rule groups? A: Yes. If your description implies complex logic (e.g., "customers who bought shoes AND (viewed hats OR viewed scarves)"), the AI will create nested groups with the appropriate combinators.
