Overview

Customer Profiles provide a unified identity view for each customer across all channels. BeyondCart merges data from multiple touchpoints — emails, phone numbers, and app sessions — into a single profile, giving you a complete picture of who your customer is and how they interact with your brand.

Accessing a Customer Profile

  1. Navigate to Data > Customers.

  2. Click on any customer to open their profile.

Alternatively, click a customer's name from an Order Details page to jump directly to their profile.

Profile Information

Identity

The identity section shows all known identifiers merged into one record:

  • Name — The customer's full name.

  • Email Addresses — All email addresses associated with this customer (there may be more than one if they've used different emails across channels).

  • Phone Numbers — All phone numbers linked to the customer.

  • Merged Sessions — The total number of app sessions attributed to this customer, including sessions that were initially anonymous and later merged.

How Identity Merging Works

BeyondCart automatically links customer data across channels:

  1. A customer may browse the app as a guest, generating an anonymous session.

  2. When they log in or place an order, BeyondCart matches their email or phone to existing records.

  3. All previously anonymous sessions and activity are retroactively linked to their profile.

  4. If a customer uses multiple emails or phone numbers, BeyondCart detects the overlap and merges them into one profile.

This ensures you see the full customer journey, not fragmented records.

Associated Data

Each profile aggregates all data tied to the customer:

  • Orders — A complete list of all orders, with totals and status.

  • Sessions — Every app session attributed to this customer, including merged sessions.

  • Wishlist — Products the customer has saved to their wishlist.

  • Game History — Any gamification plays and prizes won.

  • Push Notification Status — Whether the customer is subscribed to push notifications.

Key Concepts

  • Unified Identity — A single profile represents one real person, even if they've used multiple devices, emails, or phone numbers.

  • Cross-Channel Merging — Data from the mobile app, web orders, and POS is merged when identifiers overlap.

  • Read-Only — Profile data cannot be edited in BeyondCart. Update customer information in Shopify.

Tips

  • Use profiles to understand the full customer journey before and after they create an account.

  • Check the merged sessions count to see how much anonymous browsing activity belongs to a known customer.

  • Review wishlist data alongside order history to identify purchase intent that hasn't converted yet.

  • Profiles are great for customer support — find everything about a customer in one place.

FAQ

What if two profiles should be merged but aren't? Automatic merging relies on matching emails or phone numbers. If a customer used completely different identifiers, the profiles may remain separate. Contact support for manual merge requests.

Can I manually merge profiles? Manual merging is not currently available in the admin panel. Contact support for assistance.

Does merging affect order history? No. All orders remain linked to their original Shopify records. Merging only consolidates the view in BeyondCart.
