Overview
Sending a test notification lets you preview exactly how your campaign will look on a real device before delivering it to your entire audience. Testing helps you catch typos, verify images, and confirm that deep links open the correct screen.
Why You Should Always Test
Even small issues can hurt a campaign's effectiveness. A truncated title, a broken image, or a deep link that opens the wrong page can confuse users and reduce conversions. Testing takes only a few seconds and gives you confidence that everything works as intended.
Setting Up Test Users
Before you can send test notifications, you need to register at least one test user.
Step 1: Open the Test Users Page
Navigate to Settings → Test Users in the sidebar. This page lists all registered test devices.

Step 2: Add a Test User
Click Add Test User and provide the following:
Name — A friendly label to identify the device (e.g., "Stefan's iPhone" or "QA Android").
Device Token — The push notification token for the device. You can find this in the app's developer or debug settings. The token looks like a long alphanumeric string.
Example token: <DEVICE_TOKEN_PLACEHOLDER>
Step 3: Save the Test User
Click Save. The device now appears in your test users list and is available when sending test notifications from any campaign.
You can add as many test users as you need—team members, QA devices, or stakeholder phones.

Step 4: Deliver the Test
Click Send Test Notification. The notification is delivered immediately to the selected devices only. No subscribers outside your test list receive it.
Verifying the Test Notification
Once the notification arrives on the test device, check the following:
Title — Confirm the bold headline displays correctly and is not cut off.
Message — Read the body text for accuracy, grammar, and length.
Image — Verify the image loads, looks sharp, and is not cropped awkwardly.
Button Text — If your notification includes an action button, confirm the label is visible and correct.
Deep Link — Tap the notification and confirm it opens the correct screen inside the app. If you configured a product link, you should land on that product. If you configured a coupon link, the discount code should apply.

Troubleshooting
Test notification did not arrive
Confirm the device token is correct and has not expired.
Make sure the test device has push notifications enabled for the BeyondCart app.
Check that the device has an active internet connection.
Image does not display
Verify the image file is under 5 MB and in JPEG or PNG format.
Ensure the image dimensions are close to the recommended 1024 × 512 pixels.
Deep link opens the wrong screen
Double-check the deep link configuration in the campaign editor.
Make sure the linked product, collection, or page still exists in your Shopify store.
Tips
Test on both iOS and Android devices when possible, as notification rendering differs between platforms.
Re-test after making any changes to the campaign content.
Keep your test users list up to date—remove devices that are no longer in use.
